“The Da Vinci Code” is a thriller by Dan Brown, published in 2003.The novel is largely based on the pseudo-scientific book “The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail ” (1982). It combines entertainment with conspiracy theories and an alternative view of all church and French history; in addition there are interspersed false factual allegations that are said to support history. The book has been translated into 44 languages. A film version starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou was released on May 18, 2006 under the title „The Da Vinci Code“.
